Confession Wednesday: A Weekend of Firsts

In a little over an hour, I am leaving for a conference at an undisclosed secret location resort in Lake Tahoe.

I've been to conferences before. It's nothing earth-shattering. I've even been to Leadership conferences before.

But this weekend will be different for two reasons.

For one, I've never been to Lake Tahoe. I know. I know. I've lived in California my entire life and I have never been there. I've never really felt a huge pull, to be honest. If I want to go hang out at the water, I'd much rather go to the beach where's it's warmer than the 40 degree snow melt that fills the lake. And I'm not really into gambling, so the Nevada side isn't particularly appealing. But I'm kind of excited to go this time. I've heard our hotel is fancy schmancy, which sounds nice. And it's supposed to be beautiful, even though we are expecting thunderstorms and highs in the 40s. But still. It's kind of exciting to get away. Even if it is for "work."

The other first is that I am going on a road trip with Candace. We've been best friends since Junior High and we have been camping and we've been to Grand Bethel for Job's Daughters and we've done all sorts of stuff together. But she and I have never been on a road trip before. At least not one that was just the two of us. So I'm REALLY excited about that. We've got yummy snacks for the car, good music, and our cameras, so I'll have plenty to post after the weekend.

Lake Tahoe, here we come!

**I will have my laptop with me and free WiFi at the hotel, but I don't know if I'm going to have much time to post over the next couple of days. We'll see what happens! Have a great week!

  1. I love Lake Tahoe. Although I agree that I would rather be at the beach any day of the week, Lake Tahoe is really beautiful.

  3. I've never been to Lake Tahoe either. Well, I'm sure we probably visited when I was a kid. But I don't remember it at all. Hope you have a great time! Hooray for Girl Getaways!

  6. Don't forget the good tunes. Road trips are made for very bad singing at very high volumes! (Although if Karen's in the car there's no bad singing- you have an amazing voice!) Have a great time. If the hotel has a shoe shine kit, snag it for me. You can give it to me for Christmas. I need to get out more don't I?

  9. Thank you, everyone! We arrived safely and are all checked in. We won't go to the fancy schmancy hotel until tomorrow, but the one we're in tonight is pretty snazzy, too!

  15. Lake Tahoe? You are practically in the SF Bay Area. If you and Candace feel up for it, you should come on by. :)

Enjoy Tahoe. It is really lovely this time of year...even if it is still a bit cold.
