DOUBLE Blog of the Week & a Hometown Swap Report!

Hello, everyone.

I hope you've all been having a fun and exciting weekend spending time with the ones you love.

A month or so ago, I wandered into Shannon's blog at Welcome to the Nuthouse. She's my first BotW today. Shannon's blog is awesome. She's funny, she's a good writer, and her reviews/critiques of movies, and especially reality TV are always a good read!

Shannon also started the Hometown Swap. The idea is that bloggers from all over the US would participate in this awesome activity. All we had to do was let Shannon know what part of the country we wanted to visit, and what part we were from. She then assigned us Swap partners based on our choices. I picked two places: the Pacific Northwest and the small town Midwest, because I've never visited either one and both fascinate me.

I've always kind of wanted to live in a small town. The town I grew up in had 40,000 residents and it wasn't that often that I'd run into a familiar face at the grocery store or know the paper boy by his first name or any of that stuff you see on tv. I always thought it could be fun living like that. (That IS what it's like, right??)

So I was ecstatic that other day when I got an urgent text message from my roommate, Katie, telling me that there was a package at home for me. A package from Peoria, Illinois. I just KNEW my swap package had arrived!

Katie very patiently waited until I got home, and as soon as I walked through the door, I tore into it. Just look at what was waiting for me!

Along with the (yummy!) potato chips and the CAT keychains and the paper made from elephant dung and the book about the Critters of Illinois, there were a whole bunch of brochures and newspapers and TONS of information about her neck of the woods. There was also a really nice note from Kathie, telling me even more about her hometown, famous people from the area, and what sorts of things they do for fun.

It was AWESOME.

And so, my OTHER Blog of the Week this week is My Net Finds! Kathie's blog is fantastic because she is always posting about cool things she finds around the webiverse, from fun etsy stores to amazing giveaways and swaps. I love Kathie's blog, and I know you will too!

So GO check them both out!

And have a great week. I've got one or two scheduled posts for this week, but I don't know if I'll be around much. I've got a lot going on right now and my mind is about a million miles away. I promise not to go too far, though!

  1. I'm so relieved you got it and I hope the potato chips were crushed to pieces! I apologize for not sending the package via priority mail :-( I sell stuff on ebay and I always send them parcel post, so it was a reflex for me to send it that way..I should have realized it was take way too long to get to you! I hope it gave you some insight into small town life :-)

  4. That is an awesome idea. Maybe I'll participate in it!

Living in a small town isn't THAT great. It's not horrible and there are definite pros; however, I prefer bigger cities.

  5. This was such a fun swap. I had to threaten my husband so he wouldn't open my box before I got home. LOL
