Confession Wednesday: My Celebrity Crush Completes Me

Confession Wednesday Button

I am sorry I'm so late today, everyone! Internet access at my house has gone on a sudden, unplanned vacation. And I apparently jinxed us last night when Katie assured me that service should be restored "any time" and I said "that means Thursday." When it still didn't work this morning, I cursed my psychic powers and was forced to do something productive with my time before getting ready for work.

(And by "productive" I may or may not mean "watching a few shows so they could be deleted from the DVR.")

(What? It's a shared system. I'm trying to be a courteous roommate.)

Anyways, it's Confession Wednesday again. Finally. We got pre-empted last week because of my fabulous blog makeover, but we're back today and the theme is Celebrity Crushes!

When I was 9 years old, my recently divorced dad took my brother and me to a movie I'm pretty sure my mom didn't want us to see, given it's PG-13 rating. We spent the day at the Point Magu Airshow, awestruck by the monstrous cargo planes and thrilled when the Blue Angels passed overhead. I used to love going to airshows as a kid and Point Magu never disappointed.

After the show, my dad took us to see Top Gun.

Now, I get a lot of flack for this these days, but even at nine years old, I knew there was something special about Tom Cruise.

He was funny and charming and a little bit mischievous. It was love at first sight, even if I was way too young to know what that even was.

In junior high and high school, while my friends and I were combing through the latest Tiger Beat and Bop for pictures of the New Kids on the Block and the cast of Beverly Hills, 90210--

(Holy crap! Are you watching the new 90210? Can you believe Teddy told Naveed?? So much for "No Drama Adrianna.")

Ahem.

--I was always on the lookout for pictures of Tom Cruise. For some reason, none of my friends seemed to share my teenage obsession.

I've seen most of his movies and I used to try to watch almost every televised episode he gave. When he appeared on Inside the Actors Studio, I was riveted.

I know he's had an...um...interesting...couple of years and he has said some things that may have made some people think he's crazy, but I love him. Always have. Always will.

So...who's YOUR celebrity crush? We want to know! Leave a comment or blog about it and link back up using the MckLinky.

  1. I have three celebrity crushes: Zach Braff, Hugh Grant and Ryan Reynolds.

When I was younger, I had it BAD for Brad Renfro and was way sad when I learned of his death in early 2008.

  3. I don't know if you know this about me or not...but I LOVE...LOVE...L.O.V.E...Hugh Jackman. I don't know what it is about that man...but I love him. I might have to be a two-time blogger today...but no promises. Glad you got internet back...it's the worst thing in the world for a blogger and no internet!

  6. Oh, dear Lyn ahead of me. I so agree. Johnny Depp is hot! I've loved him ever since 21 Jump Street. I still love him. My husband has agreed not to complain about my affection toward him. Of course he knows there's no way in you know what I'd ever have a chance with Johnny Depp. But still.

  7. Tom Cruise has gone a little overboard the last several years, becoming very controversial. But still, he puts on the shades in Top Gun, and I could care less.

I've been planning on doing a post about celebrity crushes for some time. Not today, but maybe tomorrow. Can I do a confession Thursday?

I can't believe I'm going to say this... but ever since Sense and Sensibility I've crushed on Alan Rickman:) But I don't look at him all lovingly in Harry Potter.

  12. You know you had me with this one! I've added my link. Or, should I say, Mike and I have added our link?

  13. Something's fishy about the guy. I'm not saying he's gay...just something off. Many of his relationships seem more like publicity pairings. When he met Katie, it was through a series of auditions his agent set up to find a girlfriend for him. It all just seems more like he's interested in having a wife for show than having a wife for real.

  15. Dude, I have so many celebrity crushes, it's hard to keep up. But back in the day, when Goonies came out, I had it bad for Sean Astin. Let's not forget Ralph Macchio of Karate Kid fame, and Ricky Schroeder from Silver Spoons, and Joey McIntyre from NKOTB. See, lots of celeb crushes! And those are just the ones off the top of my head. I'm sure I could go on and on if I tried.
