Anyway, it's time for another Blog of the Week, and this week's pick is Big Teeth and Clouds!
Joey is one of my newest bloggy buddies and she's had quite a week.
On Tuesday, she wrote a post about the apparent shortage of Eggo waffles. Have you heard about this? Apparently the plant in Atlanta flooded and there's going to be a nationwide shortage of frozen waffles until the middle of next year. Crazy, right?
Well, Joey blogged about it. And then some AP reporter called her at home and interviewed her.
Now, one of the things I love about Joey is that she's a bit sarcastic and funny, like me. But, apparently, not everyone sees it that way since she got quite a bit of heat for talking about the need to ration her Eggos. Here's the link to the msnbc article. And here's what she had to say about it.
It's amazing how quick we are to judge each other while sitting in the comfort of our own living rooms, mere feet away from pantries that are stocked with nothing but the healthiest and purest of ingredients. I bet not ONE of those well-meaning and helpful commenters has a single ounce of processed sugar or bleached white flour in their kitchens. So it's really cool that they felt the need to be so helpful and constructive in their discussion of Joey's parenting skills.
Anyways, I just love a good internet controversy and this one keeps making me giggle.
But when she's not busy feeding her kid "garbage," Joey also writes about raising a child with hearing loss, about life and things in the news. Her blog is varied and interesting and a good read.
So go check her out. And, if you're worried about the Eggo shortage, offer her a good price before she puts them up on EBay!

I did actually notice the shortage of Eggo Waffles the last time I went to the store. They had a sign up next to them (they seemed to have some varieties, but not all varieties???).
I'm more concerned right now about the "Pumpkin Crisis." There is no pumpkin to be had in my town, and I wanted to make this pumpkin cake recipe. Grrrrr...
People can be so obnoxious. I'm as big a health food nut as anyone, but I am certainly not going to attack the parenting skills of someone I don't even know over frozen waffles. Ha, especially if it's presented in an amusing and sarcastic way!
Some people.
I just can't believe something a shortage of Eggo waffles became national news. lol
Thanks so much Karen! Blog of the week - I'm honored. I'm glad you got that I was kidding. I think a lot of those people took it as dead serious plan of mine to make 10 Eggo waffles last until next year. Who knew waffles were a hot-button topic?
I think some bloggers need to take a step back and calm down already....it just amazes me how riled up and indignant some people can be about some stuff....seriously, getting all mad about a post on eggos? really people? come on....I apologize to Joey on behalf of all the rude people!
only 4 more days to Thanksgiving? YIKES!!!
I'm going on over to visit Joey! :)
I'll go check it out. They'd probably lock me up for the food in my pantry! Some people!
We were joking about the Eggo waffle shortage just the other day. We noticed, since Eggos are such an essential part of our mornings. So, of course, I had to go visit Joey!
I heard about the Eggo shortage too. Boy people will be stockpiling! Enjoy the upcoming holiday!
My local Albertson's has quite the variety of Eggos still in the freezer, so if any of you are desperate, be sure to let me know!
In the great game of 6 degrees of separation i'm only one click away from an internet controversy! Cool!! (I find happiness where i can - don't judge me.)
I have Wal-Mart brand cinnamon toaster waffles, do those count? ;o)
