Sarah and I went to the 11:40am showing this morning at the local AMC theater. It's showing on 6 screens at this particular cineplex, so we weren't exactly sure what to expect in terms of crowds, especially before noon on a Saturday. We went kind of early, just to make ensure we'd get a decent spot in line. It sucks to have to sit too close to the screen in a movie theater.
Since we were at the first showing of the day for our particular screen, we went straight in without waiting in line. The theater was practically empty.
Forty minutes later, just minutes before the lights went out, almost the entire theater was packed.
I'm pretty much shocked at how much I liked this movie. I didn't think it would be terrible because the first one wasn't as bad as I expected and I knew this director has a track record for directing and producing some decent films. Plus they had a bigger budget for the second film, and it was based on the book that I really liked.
But STILL. I...I...loved New Moon.
Gasp!
I know. It's true. I'll just admit it. I loved New Moon. It was surprisingly well-done. They managed to translate the story nicely to the screen. The soundtrack was fantastic. And the CGI werewolves actually LOOKED like...WOLVES. I know. What a concept, right??
Sarah did hit me once or twice during the movie. I am not one to normally talk during movies, but after watching a whole movie full of this:
I just had to remark that this was kind of a letdown:
Don't get me wrong. I still feel a little bit weird and creeped out by the middle-aged ogling of young Mr. Lautner, but, really. I just don't get the Edward thing. I didn't even think he was all that cute as Cedric Diggory.
But, millions of fangirls can't possibly be wrong...right?
Whatever.
Watching New Moon made me just scratch my head more over why so many fans are anti-Jacob. I know Stephenie Meyer always intended Bella and Edward to live happily ever after, but it's clear to me that Jacob and Bella are a better match. Too bad.
Anyway, that's how I spent my Saturday.
How was yours?
