The Ubiquitous Christmas Meme
(I do feel bad about that.)
(And I appreciate every single one of them!)
I got tagged twice yesterday for this same Christmas meme, and I'm home from work sick again today and amazed by how boring daytime television is, and don't have the brain power to write the post I had originally intended for today, so I thought, what the heck?
(Apologies for that ridiculous run-on sentence!)
Anyway, I know Janet was one of my taggers and I am terribly sorry that I don't remember who the other one was, because I read about 85 posts yesterday. But I do love and appreciate you!
So...here goes:
1. Have you started your Christmas shopping?
Yes, although I haven't done much. I'm ordering most of my gifts online this year, so I guess I better get that done so that they get here on time!
2. Tell me about one of your special traditions.
I feel like I don't have any traditions anymore. My mom and I used to stay up on Christmas Eve and wrap gifts while It's a Wonderful Life played in the background. The last couple of years, she's had all her gifts wrapped way ahead of time, so it's been kind of disappointing. And since I'm the only kid that is home every year, nothing is set in stone. I think next year I'm going to spend Christmas in Hawaii.
3. When do you put up your Tree?
I haven't put up my own tree in a couple of years, but I like to do it sometime Thanksgiving weekend.
4. Are you a Black Friday shopper?
I had never done it before, but I had so much fun with Marc and Kristi this year that I might just make it an annual thing.
5. Do you Travel at Christmas or Stay home?
I guess I technically travel to my mom's house, but it's not that far. Since I moved back from Utah, I really don't "travel" for Christmas. Until next year when I go to Hawaii. I'm really digging this idea...
6. What is your funniest Christmas memory?
It was so long ago that my parents were still married. Marc and I got up WAY early and peeked in our stockings. Part of our tradition was that we would take our stockings into our parents' room and open everything while they slowly became conscious enough to enjoy watching us launch into the stuff under the tree. Well, Marc and I got into the stockings and found these chocolate Santas and ate them. When we opened the stockings with our parents, we were "surprised" and "disappointed" that Santa left chocolate Santas for Mom and Dad but not for us. It went on for awhile until my dad finally got us to confess that we had eaten them at about 5 that morning. It was a couple more years before we figured out how they knew. And this story is a lot funnier when my brother tells it.
7. What is your favorite Christmas Movie of all time?
It's a Wonderful Life. Home Alone. A Christmas Story. The Grinch. Love Actually. White Christmas. Miracle on 34th Street. Mickey's Christmas Carol. The Muppets Christmas Carol. What? I like Christmas movies.
8. Do you do your own Christmas baking? What’s your favorite treat?
I love Christmas cookies. We make and decorate butter cookies instead of sugar cookies. I like them better because they aren't as dry or as sweet. And I LOVE fudge.
9. Fake or Real Tree?
I love real trees and still feel a little bit dead inside when my mom puts up her fake tree these days. Although, I understand the reasoning and logic behind it and will probably use a fake tree for the rest of my life.
10. What day does the actual panic set in to get it all done?
I don't panic. I've been shopping on Christmas Eve before and still found everything I was looking for. I don't really stress about Christmas shopping. Unless, well, someone has commented that something I bought was ugly...
11. Are you still wrapping presents on Christmas Eve?
Usually. I like it that way.
12. What is your favorite family fun time at Christmas?
Playing games/watching movies after dinner. The dinner is eaten, the dishes are put away, the presents are unwrapped and we get to enjoy the bounteous haul. It's good times.
13. What Christmas craft do you like the best?
I don't really do Christmas crafts. Maybe I will next year when I'm saving for Hawaii.
14. Christmas music? Yes or No, and if yes What is your favorite song?
I think its' been well established that I LOVE Christmas music. My favorite song is O Holy Night and my favorite rendition is the one by Josh Groban.
15. When do you plan to finish all your shopping?
Probably around the 21st or 22nd. Something like that. I work up til then, and then I have nothing but time on my hands!
