California Girl
Jennee's on the plane and I'm back at my desk at work.
I'm exhausted. My eyelids feel like they are dead-lifting twenty pounds of cement.
My feet are covered in blisters and bandaids and my shoes still have little traces of Venice Beach in them, so it feels like I'm walking on sand paper.
My office is windowless and the only reason I know the sun is shining is that I saw it with my own two eyes about an hour ago.
There are 184 blog posts in my Google Reader, waiting to be read.
I have 27 e-mails waiting for responses.
My phone has been ringing off the hook with students wanting to make sure we're open today and wanting to set up tutoring appointments and needing to take tests.
Even though it's barely after 8am, I've got a chocolate craving like you would NOT believe.
And despite all that, I'm in a really good mood.
I had a GREAT weekend. Jennee is awesome and SO MUCH FUN. I got the chance to do a few things I've never done before and to see things in ways I haven't in a really long time. If you haven't been a local tourist lately, I highly recommend it. Playing the tour guide this weekend really made me appreciate how good I've got it, living here in the Golden State, soaking up the "winter" sun, having so many great places to go right outside my front door.
Despite our problems, California is a fantastic place to live and I have a newfound--
(albeit certainly temporary)
--appreciation for all the things that are GOOD here.
I'll fill you in on more of the details later. And I have a few pictures and... maybe... possibly... perhaps even a video to post in a day or two.
I hope you all had a fabulous President's Day/Valentine's Day/Chinese New Year weekend!
