Today's the Day!!

The blessed day has arrived at LAST!

I'm so excited. Every year I look forward to this with as much anticipation and excitement as Christmas. Or my birthday.

(Which is in 26 more days, for those of you that need reminding...)

I've been waiting. I've been speculating. I've scoured the web in search of predictions and guesses. And now, the wait is over.

So there you go. I have to say, I think I did pretty well. Not too many surprises, of course, which makes it easier, but still. Sometimes I impress myself.

Any favorites? Anything get snubbed that you thought deserved more attention? Who are you rooting for?

In other news, for those of you hoping for an end to winter, I'm sorry to tell you, Punxatawney Phil saw his shadow this morning.

And we are mere HOURS away from the premier of LOST!! I cannot handle this!

Oh! And one more thing! Tomorrow's Confession Wednesday topic is: Dating Confessions!

  1. I'm so excited Up is nominated. I really hope it wins, although I wouldn't be surprised if Avatar stole the show!

Was it pretty well known that there were going to be 10 movies nominated for Best Picture?

  2. I'm just worried that getting nominated for Best Picture is going to take away Up's chances to win Best Animated Feature. It could split votes. And yeah, I think Avatar is probably going to win.

Yes, they announced a few months ago that there would be 10 Best Pictures this year, because the ratings have been sagging from really good and popular films not being nominated. There used to be 10 nominees until the 40s.

  3. Hmmm An Education? I think the theme of the movie prevented me from truly enjoying it.

  4. Wait, why are there like 11 nominees for best picture? I miss the days of just 5 nominees for each category.

  5. I can't wait.

I don't know why Brad Pitt was overlooked for Inglorious Basterds. I don't think he's been recognized at all for his performance. I thought he was great. I'm happy for Christoph Waltz and Quentin Tarantino though. Basterds was fantastic.

I don't like having that many Best Picture nominees. Why are they changing the freaking Oscar process?

I'd like to see Gabourey Sidibe win.

I think I'm done for now.

  6. I was totally expecting this to all be about LOST and then have little bits about the Oscar's in it. You are always keeping me on my toes. Unfortunatly, I haven't seen very many of these movies that were nominated. And I'm so out of the loop I wouldn't have even known which ones to vote for.

  7. Hi: Came by to visit. I love your blog. It is sooo cute. Thanks so much for posting the Oscars info. I tried to watch it on TV but it went by too fast. Will be back soon for more.... Cheers, Lia

  8. I personally LOVED Julie & Julia, so I agree with your predictions for that one. I'm pleased though that I've actually seen several of the nominated films this year. Usually I haven't! Which speaks infavorably to the quality of my choice in movies I suppose.

  9. Will you unfollow me if I admit that the only movie I've seen out of every single movie nominated is Up? :) I do plan on seeing a few more. But a person with severe ADD does NOT do well at movies, much to my hubby's dismay.

  10. Wouldn't it be great for Up to win Best Picture!?

And when you were talking about waiting, I thought you meant LOST. Because the thought I get to go home and watch that is all that is getting me through the day.

  11. I have to admit, the only time I really cared about the Oscars was when I had a gay boyfriend :)

  12. Oh wow. I'm going to have to give this some thought (aside from my first though on reading this, which was, dang it's been too long since I've seen a good movie!)

  13. Happy nomination day! (and Groundhog's Day)!

  14. I didn't see A Single Man, but I'm still surprised to see Colin Firth nominated. I love him, but he doesn't always make the greatest film choices. I say that strictly because he made that one movie with Kevin Bacon.

Like you, I'm surprised there wasn't more love for 500 Days of Summer. I thought for sure it would be nominated for original screenplay at least.

Do you think the ladies from Precious will win? Did you see that movie? I did not, because it looks soul crushing.

  15. I'm impressed because I don't think I could name 10 movies that came out in 2009 if you held a gun to my head.

    You're amazing!

  16. 10 Best Films? It never used to be that many, right?

I have to say that I absolutely loved 500 Days of Summer! I just saw it on DVD and thought it was fantastic. I'm glad to see it nominated.

  17. I have to say that I love Meryl Streep, but am intrigued by Sandra Bullock doing more than a "chick flick." SITS sent me by, and I'm glad they did...
