Face it Friday! Week 14: Out of the Closet Edition

Zelda Rubinstein was not on hand to make the proclamation, but friends, my closet is clean.

I thought of posting before and after pictures, but I was too embarrassed to pull out the camera before yanking most of the contents out and starting all over.

The "walk-in" closet suffers from some unfortunately placed shelves. Three separate shelves inexplicably meet in the middle. Well, okay, there is about a foot of space between each one, but it severely cuts down on usable space.

It's dumb.

And ever since I first moved in, I've had trouble figuring out exactly how to configure it so that I could actually SEE what I have. And, occasionally, find the floor.

The other day, I'd had enough. I could not take it anymore.

It started simply enough. I pulled a few things out and folded some clothes. Then some boxes tumbled out, spilling their contents onto the bathroom rug.

By the time Phase 1 was complete, it literally looked like I had been robbed. It's entirely possible an entire family of polar bears was hiding under the rubble. I'd never have known.

HOURS later, it was finished. And beautiful. There's actually CARPET in there. Quelle suprise!

So that was my Big Accomplishment for the Week.

Honestly, that was one I thought I'd probably put off til December. I was scared. Terrified. I love being organized, but I don't love taking the time to get that way. It's that whole I'd-really-rather-do-something-fun thing.

It's all bagged up, boxed up, and ready for the DI truck.

Miracles do happen.

  13. The only time I clean my closets is when I'm depressed. There's a definite link. Happily, the closets are a mess!

Kudos to you for checking this one off when it's only April.

The real trick would be keeping them organized.

  15. Good for you for tackling this task! It's so easy to put something off forever but that feeling of accomplishment after you can step back and see the floor again is wonderful. I love checking things off of my mental "to do" list.

    Stopping by from LBS!
