Face it Friday! Week 17: WoW Edition

Face it Friday Button

Welcome, welcome, friends!

Today is a special day. For, today, I am the Blogger of Note for one of my favorite networks: Words of Wisdom!

I talked all about Words of Wisdom a few weeks ago. If you haven't checked them out yet, you really should. It's a great way to connect bloggers that are all about the basics. Substance, content, stuff that makes you think. I've discovered some amazing new bloggers through WoW and I have to seriously applaud Pam and Sandy for everything they've done. So get on over to WoW and join the conversation. It's worth it.

So I guess this is the part where I'm supposed to talk about myself now.

I'm a Southern California girl through and through. I've lived in a few other places, but nowhere else has quite felt like home. Probably because those other places have snow and winter and stuff, and I'm just not into that.

What AM I into? The LA Angels, Disneyland, writing, reading, Tom Cruise movies, other movies, parenthetical asides, LOST, travel, practical jokes, volunteering, and pretending to hate being the center of attention.

Other stuff I'm not into? Whiners, excessive laziness, my long daily commute and "helpless" people.

I live in an awesome townhouse right in the heart of Orange County (aka Paradise) with two roommates that happen to be married to each other. When I'm not spending long hours on the road or at work, I volunteer with a youth group for teenage girls called Job's Daughters, and I'm very active in my local congregation in the LDS church. I'm also in the process of saving/raising money for a trip to Paraguay this summer with Habitat for Humanity.

(Yes, I do try to spend a lot of my time volunteering, but I have to admit that I get way more out of all that than I could ever hope to give back. So, really, it's not as philanthropic as it sounds.)

I do have a few weekly features here on my blog, but the rest of the time, I write whatever I feel like. Wednesdays are reserved for Confessions. I'll give you the topic, and you confess. On Sunday, I have my own Blog of the Week feature. I pick my favorite blogs and share them with the world.

And then there are Fridays.

I hatched this plan with my good friend Jennee from Cheap Therapy. We both love setting goals, but also have this problem of forgetting about them, ignoring them, and not quite accomplishing them. So we set aside Fridays as a day to face up to our goals, check how we're doing, and report our progress. It's been great for me. This year, I decided to try the 65 in 365 challenge. To complete 65 separate goals this year. I would have long forgotten all about them if it wasn't for Face it Fridays.

So that's the basics of me. I guess now is where I'm supposed to link to three of my favorite posts. Do you know how hard that is when you've got almost 500 and there are probably, like, FIVE that are pretty awesome?

Anyway, here are a few that summarize me:

Red and Blue Make Purple --A little bit of (non-partisan) venting on the current political climate.
Sometimes I Need the Obvious Pointed Out to Me--How I deal with trolls...
Relationship Status: Happy--Musings on being single in a decidedly coupled world.

So that's a little peek at my world. I hope you'll stick around for awhile!

And if you've got some progress to report, link up down below and tell us all how it's going with your goals!

  2. Visiting from WOW and realising I'm not visiting for the first time. Everything is so familiar.

I think I came by when Jennee did a video here. Maybe.

    Anyway, hi!

I must admit, you lost some points with your enjoying of Tom Cruise movies, but you gained them right back with Lost.. and then gained bonus points for practical jokes.

I need roommates to play practical jokes on, because playing them on myself is getting old.

    Congrats on being the BON.

  8. Congrats! I'm going to check that out. I have a hard time finding good blogs to read that aren't all about recipes and momhood and giveaways. I want blogs kind of like mine...just general musings on life.

  9. Glad to "meet" you! Congratulations on being the Blogger of Note today. I share your love of "Lost" and "Glee" (the quote on your side bar made me laugh). I also wrote a post last night about goals, which is a funny coincidence. Looking forward to reading more of your stuff!

  12. Good for you for being a volunteer. I run a program that only happens if we have volunteers willing to put in the time/energy. But I also spend a lot of time volunteer myself...you're right, I get more out of it than I put it in (though that's not why I do it!). Congrats on your BON day!

  14. Woo hoo! Your BON day has finally arrived! You are so cool!

Let me just say that I have yet to get my post up because even at Panera, I can't seem to get online or stay connected...what is up with that?

I was going to say something else but I've forgotten.....hmmm....I'll think on in!

  15. Happy BON day!! "That must have hurt!" Not really... just a response to your Hook question. Can't take credit though, I have no memory for things like that but my hubby does. FYI we didn't marry until I was 42 and I loved being single until then!

Enjoying my visit to your blog. We kust got back from a visit to Disneyland.. half of the last posts are somehow mouse inspired!

    TTFN! Kathy

  16. What a cool website - I will defenately check it out! We have a lot in common - I just moved to SoCal & I think it's heaven too! I volunteer for ACS & I am totally addicted to LOST! I love your idea for staying accountable to your goals! I have been trying to get some sort of "mastermind" group going for that reason - it's nice to be accountable! Great post!

  22. Happy WOW day :) I like the idea of keeping tabs on progress week-by-week, but I think I'd find my lack of progress depressing!

  23. Happy Share Fest! You have a new follower ;)

I've never heard of WOrds of Wisdom before. I'm going to check it out now. Glad to have come here to hear about it. There are a ton of blogs that are less about content. It would be nice to find the juicy ones!
