Face it Friday! Week 17
I don't have a lot of time today. I'm headed to a one-day conference/retreat thing this morning, and then it's the Newport Beach Film Festival for the one and only screening of Patrick Wilson's film Barry Munday. Unfortunately, Patrick himself isn't going to be there, but I did hear another star from the movie is planning to attend. None other than Lando Calrissian himself.
(If I do get to meet him, I promise to keep my Star Wars Geek flag safely tucked away in my purse.)
Anyway, I do have to report that I didn't start running this week. I was busy and sleep-deprived and I didn't make it a priority.
For next week, I'm going to try to do what I've resisted doing for a long time: scheduling exercise. Some people swear by it, and this running this just isn't happening when I do it my way. So, it's time to try something else.
Have any of you had success scheduling exercise into your routine? Does it work better when you plan ahead?
Any other successes or setbacks this week? Link up and share!

Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteI think planning ahead is the best for success. I've read lots of tips and advice on exercise and what I learned was to set a date to start your exercise, set goals and get the proper attire/equipment/etc ahead of time. Figure out how much time you need and what time of day will work best for you. But, also be flexible. I've had to make some changes along the way....and be sure you have the right shoes no matter what exercise you choose! Very, very important.
good luck!
Does scheduled dog walks count? My dog is sure to remind me any time I am running behind schedule.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun weekend!
I loosely schedule exercise, but back out. I need to be held accountable, for sure! I do hope to shave and be ready to go to the pool on Monday...it's been a long time.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Once again, we are on the same page. I had to write my blog in 10 mintues because I was heading out the door! Just being more active will help you get back into running. You can do it!
ReplyDeleteI definitely believe planning ahead and scheduling exercise is helpful. It's one of those things that can easily be forgotten or ignored if time isn't specifically set aside for it.
ReplyDeleteI definitely do better when I schedule it in. Lately I'm trying to just do little things to be more active also. Park a little farther away. Carry my grocery bags to the car instead of pushing them in the cart, that sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteI sort of schedule it. I pick days that we have to work out, and then McGyver (and before him a good friend of mine) makes me go. Classes at the gym are a big help for me, too. And yelling Marines.
ReplyDeleteScheduling exercise has REALLY helped me....well, not lately, but usually it does!
ReplyDeleteI've tried to schedule it, but my daily schedule is sort of non-existent. So I've taken to fitting it in where ever I can.
ReplyDeleteI personally find that scheduling the time to exercise works much better for me. It means I have no excuses, nothing else to take away from the time I allotted for myself! Try it out, you might like it!
ReplyDeleteHi from SITS and Northern Ireland.
ReplyDeleteI can easily talk myself out of exercise - even of I have schduled it! However, I am proud of myself as I was due to walk with a friend yesterday, she cancelled, but I walked anyway - usually unheard of!
Ooh, how exciting! I hope you have a fantastic time at the conference!! :D
ReplyDeleteI have to put exercise as part of a regular routine (alongside things like "getting out of bed" and "cleaning my teeth" that I do every day) otherwise it gets swept aside by life. And at the moment, I've slipped and need to re-form some habits...
ReplyDeleteI tried swimming early in the morning, before my day started . . . AND I WAS COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY EXHAUSTED! I had to go back to bed and sleep. So much for rejuvenation.
ReplyDeleteI have tried everything including scheduling and it just doesn't happen. I am horrible at making excuses to get out of exercise.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Angie. If you're the type who can talk herself out of anything, then you'll likely put it off even if you schedule it.
ReplyDeleteHowever, putting it on your schedule makes you more aware of not doing it -- which may give you enough guilt to see it through.
I try to "schedule" time for myself to exercise. Unfortunately there's ALWAYS something more fun to do. Like sleep.

ReplyDeleteYep - A schedule is the way to go.. Goals are my life :) How fun to attend that film festival! I have been wanting to do that since we moved to SoCal - so many fun things to see like that. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!! I look forward to getting to know you.
