Face it Friday! Week 22

Face it Friday Button

I'm taking a break from crossing off one of my big goals for this week so that I can write today's post.

I'm in the middle of rearranging/reorganizing/bringing order to the chaos that is my living quarters.

It's quite the project. I knew I had a lot of stuff, but...wow. This is a mess! There are books and baskets and miscellaneous computers parts EVERYWHERE.

(But, of course, my laptop has never been far from my reach.)

Today I'm heading out to buy another bookcase. I know the obvious solution would be to get rid of a bunch of the ones I've already got, but...well...I don't wanna. So I'm going to go and get another bookcase. That's going to help this process along.

So that's what I'm up to today.

But earlier in the week, I went out and had some fun. I took The Nephew to the LA Zoo.

I haven't been to the zoo in YEARS, and I've never taken that 4-year-old bundle of crazy awesomeness anywhere. We had SUCH a fun day. He practically ran from one animal to the next, darting all over the place. And let me tell you, there are SO many HILLS that I briefly considered freeing a camel so we could ride back to the parking lot.

(We couldn't find the camels.)

The kid cracks me up. All he talked about all day was gorillas and chimpanzees, and he couldn't wait to see them. But when we found them and saw that they weren't up to much, he was ready to move on. And then we found the orangutans. Three of them were basically just sitting around, checking out the people. He was mesmerized. Stood there for a full ten minutes before deciding he wanted to see the bird show. And the tigers. And the elephant, the otters, the seals, a few zebras, and a whole bunch of creatures whose names I cannot pronounce.

It was a good day.

And I decided to seize another chance to brainwash help him develop his political identity:

Me: Which do you like better: elephants or donkeys?
The Nephew: I like them both.
Me: No. You have to pick one.
The Nephew: Elephants, I guess.

Indoctrination Attempt #2: Success.

So how are you doing on your goals? What recent successes would you like to celebrate? Setbacks?

  1. Today feels like a one step forward, one step back sort of day. As for that whole spring cleaning thing, it hasn't quite happened yet. So, looks like it is going to be more of a summer cleaning.

  2. I LOVE the zoo! I have to say, one reason I was/am excited to have nieces and nephews is because now I can do all the fun things in life again!

  3. Have a great Memorial Day weekend! I hope you do lots of fun stuff! Or you know, just sleep, which sounds fun too. Either way, 3 DAY WEEKEND! Woo-hoo!

  4. I'm still here and procrastinating. I've been doing better at helping Hubby with his business, and I've gotten things done that I needed to for my lil' sis' wedding and getaway weekend, but I'm still not exercising regularly or making things as often as I say I want to. So, my goals are still goals... not accomplishments. But, I'm smiling! I'll get there...

    Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

  5. I love going to the zoo. I swear, once I got my zoo pass I went there as often as you got to Disneyland. And I love how you secretly brainwash the nephew....I'm trying that one on my neice when I see her this weekend.

  9. YOU'S SO FUNNY! Loved that last part!:P I know what you mean about books. I hardly get rid of any of the ones I buy though sometimes I do pass a book on to someone else. Most of the time, I just go and buy another copy to give them instead of giving up mine. lol Hope life is treating you well!

  10. Funny, we went to the zoo today. It seemed like a good idea and apparently a lot of other people agreed to, it was way too crowded!

  11. As much as I love monkeys, otters and penguins are way more fun to watch. I want to go to the zoo now!
