Confession Wednesday: And Now...A Word from Our Sponsors

Confession Wednesday Button

Just add it to the ever-growing list of things I swore I would never do.

In fact, if I swear I will NEVER do something, then just assume that eventually I will.

Except, like, drugs and stuff. Cuz I really WON'T do that.

(Other than the prescription my doctor just gave me.)

(And NO, it's NOT that kind of prescription. Sheesh.)

Anyway, lately I've been thinking about making some changes. To the blog. To my life in general. Just...changes. And one of the changes I have decided to make was to open my blog to advertising opportunities.

I had this idea in my head of what a monetized blog would mean for my content and for my readers. But I was driving along the other day, listening to the radio and some commercials came on. And it occurred to me that advertising is OK. It doesn't mean that I have to lose control of my blog or compromise my content or anything like that.

And so, with that, I would like to introduce you to my very first sponsor: VistaPrint!

You've probably heard of them around the internet, but I bet VistaPrint offers more than you even knew. Of course, there are printing services for everything from business cards to stationery, calendars, t-shirts and other needs for your home or business. And they have some great deals coming up for the holidays. But  they also offer web hosting, toll-free 800 numbers and so much more.

So please, go click on the link on my sidebar and check out all the things VistaPrint has to offer.

And be sure to watch for some exciting changes coming to my blog very soon.

  1. I have ads on my blog but I don't know what they are. I've never tried the sponsored thing. I don't know if I have enough readers to make it worth it.

  2. I don't have an issue with ads on blogs. What I do have an issue with is when they overrun the blog to the point where the content gets lost, or the bloggers starts doing a ton of reviews and giveaways. I actually don't even have an issue with that, but I generally won't read anymore.

  3. You can barely notice the ads on my blog and noone clicks on them anyway. lol. I am destined to be a poor blogger for life. Hi Karen...trying to do some non-academic reading tonight. Glad all is well with you.

  4. I thought a lot about this, although my blog is still such a baby blog that I wouldn't make any money. I got contacted by some company a while ago, asking if I would like to do a post for them. And I thought about it for a long time, almost did it, and then didn't. I'm not sure why.

  5. Ads are alright if done right. I know of several blogs in which you wonder where the writing starts and the ads end.

  8. Promoting a company/business is fine....and like the others said, as long as it doesn't take away from your blog, posts, .....YOU.....it's all good in the hood, my friend.

I love VistaPrint btw,.....they really do have great products!

  11. So you're sellin' out to The Man. It's a sad day indeed.

Just kidding. I don't see a problem with having a sponsored blog, or with having ads. As long as there's still fun content. Like Kristina P. said - when blogs start becoming just a non-stop stream of reviews and giveaways, then it gets old really fast.

Are you watching Sarah Palin's Alaska? I'm not necessarily a fan of hers, but I am a fan of the great state of Alaska - and man, does that show make me want to go there. So pretty!!

  12. The ad currently on your page isn't large, garish, or pulling the main focus from your posts, so I'd say it's all good!

  13. I used VistaPrint last year to make all my own Christmas cards and Isabelle's birthday cards. They turned out just okay. It's cool they are your sponsor!
