Zombified
Well...it's better if I show you.
Okay, well, wait. That was actually Saturday night at our Ward Halloween Party.
My incredibly talented friends, Garrett and CeCe are the Activities Committee co-chairs and let me tell you. They know how to throw a ward party.
They are artists. Like, really good ones. The kind that get PAID for their work. Garrett manages the face painters at Disneyland (I think that's right) and CeCe works there twice a week. They also recently opened up a place at Downtown Disney for doing characiture portraits. And they do all kinds of other stuff on their own. Their house is full of artistic goodness.
Plus, they're just cool people.
I'm actually going to be talking more about them later in the week, in honor of NaNoWriMo. Because, Garrett also wrote a book and I'm super excited to tell you all about it.
Anyway, back to the ward party. Garrett set up a Zombie Transformation Station, which was a HUGE hit, mostly because it was awesome. I mean, can you imagine thirty people running around looking like that picture up there? Such a riot. And he finished most of the transformations in time for us to join in on the worst Thriller dance in the history of the Thriller dance.
Okay, okay, everyone else did a great job.
I, however, am NOT a dancer.
My clumsy footwork managed to take out a couple of friends, a folding chair, and one toddler with bad timing.
All right, not really. Although the toddler did very nearly get stepped on. But I looked every bit the zombie while trying to keep my feet moving in some direction that resembled what everyone else around me was doing.
I failed.
But some things are more fun when you're getting them completely wrong. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
The makeup may have come right off, but I spent most of yesterday still feeling like a zombie. I hung out at my mom's house while they went and visited grandkids, watched the Live Ghosthunters show, and
How was YOUR Halloween?

You look great! Amazing makeup.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is great makeup! And kinda spooky. I spent my halloween working and then out of exhausting doing stupid things that I thought some ghost was in on (read I took my brothers keys instead of mine and went to unlock the door of my car and his lights started flickering at me! I flipped out, ran in the house and asked him if he did that as some sort of practical joke.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my page!! Yours is super cute!! :) I like how you're a non-traditional blogger too :) I've found a kindred spirit!
ReplyDeleteThat make up job is amazing! You definitely look like a zombie! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is real talent! I bet you scared a lot of little kids!
ReplyDeleteoh crap! I forgot about the live Ghost Hunters show! darn it :-(
ReplyDeleteThe make up is wonderful. I can't believe you didn't get any trick or treaters. We had them in record numbers this year. We could have used your candy.
ReplyDeleteThose zombies would be too scary for me! I hope your picture doesn't give me a nightmare!
ReplyDeleteWe had an excellent Halloween. Just enough trick or treating fun and a perfect amount of candy.
Great make-up! It makes me wish that I had dressed up, but I just can't get that into it.
ReplyDeleteReally? No trick-or-treaters? Our neighborhood is a little out of the way, and we still got quite a few. And the neighborhood we took our kids to had tons! It was great.
That's an amazing make-up job, and kinda scarry! I noticed a lot less trick or treaters were out. On the few occasions that I have bought candy, I make sure it's always chocolate, just in case...I don't want to be stuck with crappy candy.
ReplyDeleteWoah, that's an incredible face paint job!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a great Halloween. We watched some of the GhostHunters show. It was here this year. Kinda interesting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
That would have been cool! We took my stepdaughter and her friends to a fair of some sort where they were doing face painting and they had the coolest faces. I wanted to have mine done...but it seemed to be something they were doing for the kids only!
ReplyDeleteI love it! My Husband is a zombie buff so I said, "Look honey!" and he says, "Yikes! She did a good job" lol
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog!
I bet you are a better dancer than me.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to know that when I finally get back to California, you won't pressure me to go dancing.
Your make up is awesome! Scary!
ReplyDeleteThat's makeup??? Damn, they're good.
ReplyDeleteI watched football games on Saturday and spent SunDAY with my man. After he left, mom and I played cards by a small lamp, so as not to attract those little buggers begging for candy.
Someone knocked on the door and we froze, then mom put her hand out to switch off the lamp. I said, "That's only going to prove that we're home," and she stopped in mid-air. They eventually left and we spent the rest of the night holed up in our respective rooms.
Good times!
That is SO unbelievable, Karen. The only thing I could recognize about you under that zombie makeup were your blue eyes! Amazing... just amazing.
ReplyDeleteWow. Awesome makeup!
ReplyDeleteThat's some pretty detailed makeup work! How long did it take you? And over your lips, too. Did it stay on all night?
ReplyDeletedid you know that the incredibly talented Cece and her husband actually have a website show-casing and selling their work? It's http://www.paintedmonkeystudios.com/Welcome.html
ReplyDeleteI thought you might want to link it up so people can check it out. They do great room murals.
Thanks for the shout out! :)
ReplyDeleteI am glad you tried the dance. I kinda knew it and still messed up :P
That's an awesome makeup job, and it sounds like you had a ton of fun :) My Hallowe'en was two fold. I spent the day bobbing for apples and making cookies with my sister, then after she went to bed I opened a few beers and watched Land of the Dead with my two brothers before watching Paranormal Activity alone at 2am. I did my best to make it a scary night, but alas, t'was not meant to be.
