Thirty-Five
Today is my 35th birthday. And I have to admit that part of me wondered if I would make it this far.
But I did. Yay!
I don't know about you all, but I think 35 is kind of a significant number. Like, there is no doubt about it. I really am an adult now and there's no turning back.
(Although I'm still waiting to actually FEEL like an adult...When does that part kick in?)
Anyway, in thinking about what to say on this, my 35th birthday, I decided to do what I do best and make a list. Two lists, actually.
(You all know how much I LOVE lists.)
First is a list of 35 things I've done so far...

You really want to learn to spin wool into yarn?!?! For some reason that one struck me as really funny! You'll have to do a tutorial on the blog when you figure it out! LOL P.S. My mom spun (twisted it with her fingers until it turned into yarn)her cat's hair into yarn and even crocheted a tiny set of mittens out of it. Yes, feel free to laugh and judge. I embrace my insane family.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! You are one of THOSE people who don't have it on FB. :)
ReplyDeleteOh ya, I almost forgot, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
ReplyDeleteHappy happy happy birthday!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Karen!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Karen! I can totally see you in pink hair!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Karen!!
ReplyDeleteMan... if you come to Indy sometime... i can help you out with that list...
Happy birthday! (I thought it was tomorrow for some strange reason!) I can't wait to hear the story of you meeting Tom Cruise someday! Totally looking forward to that for you and for us readers. :) Sounds liked you've done a great amount of living and have so much more to do!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Karen!!!! I love that pic of you!!!
ReplyDeleteFly a plane? Sky dive? Really? You are so much more adventurous than I am!
OK, does it count as seeing Star Wars in the theater in its original release if you were a baby? It was released in May of '77. :) Otherwise, very cool list.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally counting it. My parents took me to the theater and my mom says I cheered when they blew up the Death Star. A true fan from the beginning.
DeleteWorks for me!
DeleteNow, the question is, what are your feelings on JarJar Binks?
A very happy 35th - still a young'un, though you have accomplished much and should be proud. Good luck on the next 35.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Amazing list! You've already done so much! I love that you’ve been to Sundance. I’ve always wanted to go.
ReplyDeleteI've been there to see you do three of the things on your "done" list and I hope I get to be with you to see you do things on your "to do" list (not the sky diving one). You are great and I hope you have a great birthday!
ReplyDeleteRe: #22 on your bucket list - all I can think about when I imagine spending New Year's Eve in Times Square is how hard it would be to find a bathroom. lol!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!!!
Wonderful lists - you have accomplished so much! Wishing you a very wonderful birthday. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy 35th, Karen! Your lists are totally inspiring and I think I should make some of my own. Best of luck and happy, happy cake-eating!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! You've already done so many cool things, and I love your list of things to do! I'm stealing some of those goals. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! And what a cool idea of making the lists. I turned 36 on February 4th and I think I'm going to steal this for my blog. You've done a lot in your 35 years, AWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteWow! You have already done so many things that most people only dream about. I love your to-do list. Maybe we can do one together? Like meet at the restaurant at the top of the Eiffel Tower?
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great birthday! I don't know when the "feeling like an adult" thing happens. I'm at 40, and I don't have it yet.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, friend!
ReplyDeleteThere is something about lists like this, the lists of things people have done and the lists of things they want to do that makes me feel both despondent and hopeful. Despondent over all the things I haven't done, but yet hopeful about all the things my life could hold in store.
You've done so many amazing things. And you are an amazing person. Thanks for letting us all tag along on the journey.
Happy Birthday! That's a great picture of you.
ReplyDeleteAlso, BOTH of those lists are super impressive. And I'm two years older than you but I sort of still feel 17-ish, so I don't when the growing up thing happens.
Happy Birthday! I agree those lists are very impressive. And even though I will be 45 this year I still don't feel like an adult.. so maybe we don't every really grow up in the way that we think we would. Enjoy working on that list... sounds adventurous! Glad you are well!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday, Karen! Hope you have an awesome celebration!
ReplyDeleteAw! Happy birthday! 35 is a great year!
ReplyDeletehappy birthday Karen!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, youngster. What a couple of great lists! Well done for cramming so much in the 35 years.
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed it, but Happy Birthday! Wow, you've sure done a lot. Here to another 35 years of crossing off things on your bucket list. =o)
ReplyDeleteHappy Day-Late-Belated Birthday!!!
ReplyDelete(Hopefully, when you swim with the sharks, you'll be inside one of those cages which divers lock themselves into on the National Geographic and Discovery Channels.)
Happy Birthday! I love this idea! And I will be your personal assistant! As long as you take me with you to Australia etc.!
ReplyDeleteLove both of these lists, momma. I think birthdays like these tend to be very reflective periods for us, so it's good to sum up what you've done and what you have left to see/experience in the future.
ReplyDeleteAnd you look so incredibly beautiful in that picture! Hope you had a very happy birthday, Karen. XOXO
Happy Birthday.. love the pic. My bucket list is as crazy and eclectic as yours!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with it.
PS, there are two you can mark off today - dye your hair and adopt a dog... dye your hair after though... they might not let you take the dog otherwise.
xoxo
Yay! You have done some great things. Can't wait to read about your coming adventures.
ReplyDeleteMelanie here! I enjoyed this piece, please email me--I have a question about your blog. MelanieLBowen[at]gmail[dot]com
ReplyDeleteI would go with you to build a house.
