A conversation I had with my brain...
This is one of those stories.
**********
The scene: stopped at an intersection behind a truck.
Me: Hey! That truck is from California too! I wonder where.
My brain: Um...Karen?
Me: That reminds me, I really need to get my registration changed over to...uh...what state is this again?
My brain: Karen, you're in California. Where you've lived most of the last 35 years...
Me: Oh. Right. Oops.
**********
The sad thing is, I was wide awake and fully alert when it happened.
A few minutes later, I wondered what I should do about lunch since I was starving and had no food at home. And then I looked down at the floor of my passenger side and remembered the $40 worth of groceries I was on my way home to unload.
I wonder about me sometimes...
You are awesome. And if you share this post, you'll be even awesomer!

Early signs of Alzheimer? I hope not.... maybe you just need more rest and more fruits and veggies to clear your busy mind. :)
ReplyDeleteYour brain is focusing too hard on remembering to write 2013 that it can't focus on anything else! No worries - you should be sorted out by July or August.
ReplyDeleteNah...you're fine. You just have too much on your mind. Now, when you forget what California is, and when you forget what food is - we'll be worried. But not until then!
ReplyDeleteI just had a conversation tonight with a friend, in which I repeated the same story three times in an hour. I like to think of this as a sign of brilliance, that the other parts of my brain are busy figuring out cold fusion.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I have so done this. More than once. I am heartened to know it's not just me!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLucky for you I am just a psychology student right now. Although I did giggle at this post. Does that mean one day I'll be a bad counselor? Ok, back to the topic on hand, this post sounds a lot like my brain. I even get sidetracked when talking to someone!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the Monthly Goals Link-up (thanks for being one of the wonderful co-hosts)!

I've noticed, recently, that I repeat the last thought in my head. For example, I might think "he's such a jerk" til something else catches my attention. I'm doing it right now, "I've noticed, recently..."
ReplyDelete@Katherine: my mom does that...and I'm starting to, as well. It annoys me when she does it so I'm going to start annoying myself any day now.
You know me and my social work job. I see a lot of disturbing things. This, by far, is the most disturbing thing I've read in the last 5 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI don't wonder about you but maybe that's because our brains operate in much the same way. That is pretty funny about the groceries though. I'm just as forgetful sometimes! Happy new year, karen!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I have had those moments! The one I get a lot is the one where I walk into a room to get something and then I just stand there for about five minutes wondering what it was.
