I love going to the movies as well, though I don't see as many as you do. I loved The Hangover, 500 Days of Summer, Sunshine Cleaning and The Blindside. Up and The Soloist are on my Netflix list. Great list. Thanks for sharing.

Oh geez, the only one of these I've SEEN is Blind Side, which I agree, was very good. And I happen to have 500 Days of Summer from Netflix at this very moment, thanks to your recommendation! I'm looking forward to watching it. I also have a few of those others in my queue.

I really need to see Up and The Blind Side. And that Clean up movie, I've never even heard of it. So, thank you for the suggestions.

I think if I had to pick a complete favorite of this year, it would be "Where the Wild Things Are." I'm nuts about that movie.

I also loved District 9. I find myself thinking about the themes in the film often.

Sadly, Sherlock Holmes didn't toot my horn. My comment to the BF afterwards "my biggest disappointment with that film was that I couldn't fall back asleep after I was woken up mid-movie." :P

I'm going to try to limit how much I actually comment, because there is so much to say. But this is your blog post. Not mine.

First, even as a mom of 2, I hate it when people take their kids to inappropriate movies. I don't mind if there is a noisy kid while we are watching UP (Yes, agree, fantastic!). But I do mind when I see 4 year olds at violent or raunchy shows. My nephew had nightmares for 6 months after his dad (my delightful brother-in-law) took him to see King Kong when he was 3.

I actually haven't seen most of the movies you listed. Although, as I type, (500)Days of Summer is on my counter, just waiting to be watched.

Can't wait to see Sherlock Holmes and the Blind Side.

I actually didn't really like District 9. I love the idea and even the style. But it was so violent that after a while I couldn't even watch anymore. And I had such a hard time getting behind the main character until the very, very end. Before he just seemed to promote himself as a good person, but really be a selfish, bigoted person.

Excellent list! I just love love LOVE it. You totally nailed some of my favorites. Sherlock Holmes was so much fun. And Up! I just love Up. So very very much. I still haven't seen 500 Days of Summer. That needs to change.

I am SO OVER kids in movies. Seriously, we saw Sherlock Holmes on Christmas, and there were easily 6-7 babies/toddlers in there, making a lot of noise. Not OK.

I was just going to sit down and write a post about UP. I don't see movies until they come to DVD. Movie theaters are too expensive and I can't deal with hearing other people talk during a film. We got a big TV and have our own nightly theater experience between the two of us.

I haven't finished watching UP. It made me cry (I'm sure you'll read the post, I'm still going to write it) and Julia "didn't think it was a Disney movie" so we turned it off.

I'll have to refer to your list as the movies come to DVD, I'm always looking for a good recommendation.

I liked Sunshine Cleaning quite a bit, however I was not a big fan of District Nine (but, as you know, that is not my kind of movie in general). Up is pretty awesome, I don't think its my favorite Pixar movie, but its up there (pun intended).

I haven't seen any of the other movies on your list, but I want to see most of them, especially (500) Days of Summer and The Blind Side.

On the other side, I really liked Taken. We have watched it twice and I liked it both times.

My husband and I used to love going to the movies. It still makes for a great date for us... we just don't have the time or funds so much anymore. But we do have Netflix and I manage to see most movies on BluRay these days. I'm so behind... I only recently saw Slumdog Millionaire because it was on HBO!

1. Loved Up.
2. Want to see The Blind Side.
3. Loved Star Trek (didn't expect to but totally did).
4. Don't know much about 500 Days of Summer. Will add it to the queue.
5. My husband saw and enjoyed District 9. When he gets it on BluRay, I guess I'll get to see it!
6. My husband saw Watchmen. He and his best friend are fans of the graphic novel and felt some of the movie was lacking or overdone.
7. The Soloist- another one I wanted to see but never got around to.
8. We just watched The Hangover last week and it was a lot funnier than I expected it to be!
9. I've not heard of Sunshine Cleaning but I will look it up.
10. I've not had much interest in Sherlock, I have to admit.

This is an older film but I just saw it... Grace Is Gone. Have you seen it? John Cusack is AMAZING. The movie is fantastic. It's a recently discovered film for me and I have to tell everyone about it!!
