I loved the first Twilight book. It caught my attention and I couldn't put it down. I rarely find books like that, usually I lose interest right away.

Twilight may not be the best written book ever, but it's fun for me to watch all the excitement around it. I didn't appreciate the first movie as much as I wanted to, but I am going to the midnight showing of New Moon. This is my first midnight premiere, so I wonder how I'll like it.

And, if all else fails, both movies have a serious kick ass soundtrack. :)

Totally agree with the Twilight issue. I, however, am not going to see New Moon in the theatre. I cannot stand all those tweenies screaming so much that I can't hear the movie. So I'll just have to wait until it comes out on DVD.
I too, have no idea what the big deal is about House and Dancing with the Stars, I don't watch either one.

I've read all 4 books. They were entertaining. No, the writing's not stellar. But it's a young adult book, it's not Shakespeare.

I saw Twilight in the theater, and I plan to see New Moon. I was disappointed, not only with the acting, but with Edward. I'm sorry, but that is NOT my vision of Edward. Gross. Of course, I'm not 15.

But Jacob, on the other hand... YUM!

I spent a lot of Eclipse hoping that Bella would choose Jacob. Edward was getting so friggin' whiny and controlling and "oh, Bella! I love you so much! Let me just follow you around so nothing happens to you, like some crazy Fatal Attraction freak!"

I liked Breaking Dawn. I like happy endings. And I thought it provided closure for Edward and Bella, but still left room for another book, to discuss the story of Jacob and the baby (rensemme?)

Okay I read all four books because it was important to Big Sis - I found them alright - to tell you the truth I don't recall a lot from them I could sum up the whole story in five or ten minutes and I will never re-read them I watched the first movie because again it was important to Big Sis and I will be taking her to New Moon NEXT Friday when hopefully it is a little less busy.... I agree with what you said about the fluffy ending (loved the white font - so clever of you!!) and I also agree with a comment made about the obsessive love bit - I already see the negative effects of that on Big Sis - which does make me question letting her read the books..... Little Sis is convinced that Stephanie Meyer (?) put a spell on the books to make people obsessed and only those with strong minds can resist.... I laughed and laughed at that one!!!

So I'll come out and say it. I like Twilight....

So I'll come out and say it. I like Twilight. It is exactly the type of brain holiday that my mind needs. I'm actually rereading the books right now.

However, I do not think Stephanie Mieir is a strong writer. I think that she creates strong characters, but the writing itself is overdone, cliched, and at times a little painful. I agree with all of your arguments about the Twilight books, especially Breaking Dawn. I actually enjoy discussing the failings of the books and the flaws of the characters.

But none of those have made me enjoy reading them less.

And if someone offered me a Twilight t-shirt, I wouldn't say no.

I just had to put my two cents in. First of all, Love the blog. And the fact that you write, even cooler.

Twilight= Read the saga once. Not 15 zillion times like some people. I don't think it's that type of book. There are so many other great books out there too. Why re-read this book until you are blue in the face?

2nd book-Really got tired of the whining. But I have to admit she is a teenager that's what teens do. Finished it. liked it. Didn't really want to read Breaking Dawn, cause I hates the third book. But then people told me it was better. It was, but she still was with Edward. UGH. What a sick and twisted relationship.

About drooling over Taylor Lautner. Did it, got the T shirt. Probably what the media wants me to do. I would never act on my intentions. It's a crush. I am totally in love with my hubby. Happily married for almost 12 years.

I once told a pretty well read blogger, who loves Twilight, that story aside, the books are not well written, and she said that she had never heard that before. Really? I've always said that my Stephenie Meier is Dan Brown. Not well written, great pieces of literary fiction, but I enjoy them and I see them for what they are.

I have a problem with the women who think they are seriously the best thing since Shakespeare.

I am also creeped out by all the Taylor Lautner drooling. He is jail bait! If a bunch of men were talking about how hot Miley Cyrus is, I have a feeling people wouldn't think that was awesome.

The books are not written well. I have problems with Bella's Damsel in Distress thing. I have problems with Edward being bossy and stalkerish. I have problems with the message it sends about obsessive love. I have lots of problems with the series. It's cheesy and laughable. But I simply love to hate it. Twilight brings me a lot of joy.

Uh oh... I'm one of THOSE Twilight people. I LOVE the books, the movie, and even more I love Edward AND Bella! I’m actually just finished my second run through of reading them all. And I will be one of those women who go to see it at 11:59 PM on Thursday night. I even bought a shirt for the occasion! It reads: “Edward can BITE my pillows, BREAK my headboard, and BRUISE my body ANYDAY!” To explain I'm one of those people who get mad when there isn't a 'happily ever after' in a book, movie, TV show.... whatever. I love sappy love stories! And that is exactly what the Twilight saga is. It's an escape from reality. Don't get me wrong I have a very sweet and caring Husband who romances me ALL the time but it's still nice to escape from the reality of real life and get lost in someone else’s reality… if that’s what you can call it. If you take the story for what it is meant to be and who it was targeted for (young teenage girls) then it’s a GREAT story in my opinion.

P.S. I never wanted Bella to end up with Jacob because she always wanted to be with Edward. She said multiple times that she would be settling for Jacob. So I'm all about Team Edward! Plus it helps that he’s totally HOT:)

I'm on CD number 4 of 11 of Twilight. I listen in my car on the way to work every day. Twice I've ejected a CD and said, "NO MORE" but I always put it back in and try again. I'm really, REALLY trying to get through it because I "have to" like it. I'm not allowed not to.

But, truth be told, I just don't get it. I'm not going to say she's a bad writer or the book isn't good, because I think she's got talent and the book is good for what it is...I just don't see the big deal. I really don't. With Harry Potter, I could see why people thought it was amazing...it was so unique and different, but Twilight doesn't seem any different to me than the hundreds of thousands or so other young adult novels put out every year. They're vampires? Big deal. I find Bella unsympathetic and Edward bland...it's all just so...ordinary.

Are we allowed to say that as authors? I've been biting my tongue because I know they say that we can get in trouble as writers for saying something bad about another writer's book.

Your assessment of Breaking Dawn is RIGHT ON. It was entirely too neat and tidy for my taste. Where's the turmoil? For that matter, where the hell is the climax? It's all just...MEH.

I read this series by accident. My son had them and I had nothing to read. I agree with you. The first one was good enough that I couldn't put it down, the second even better and then...huh?

Now I just hate Bella.

I haven't read the books. My daughter (15) LOVES them. I did take her to the movie, and was thoroughly unimpressed.

I do understand young girls loving the story and they wouldn't know better than to like the writing (again, haven't read the books, but have heard from many people that they are pretty bad. And Stephen King knows what he's talking about, so I'll take his word for it.). I don't understand women my age and older who are obsessed, though. I guess they haven't outgrown wishing for the fairytale or something. And I'm a cynic. :-)

I like the books, but I'm nowhere near as obsessed as most people are with it and I probably won't even see the latest movie in the theatre!....I'm an odd duck, I wanted Bella to choose to be human and be with Jacob by the end of the 3rd book. I almost gave up reading them after the 3rd book actually. I don't think her writing is all that great really. I think what attracts a lot of women and girls to the Twilight books is the ridiculous, over the top, melodramatic love story. :-)

OK I must admit... I have NEVEr read the first page of the first book in the series.. EVER. My 13 yr old son has part of the series and has read and reread the first 2 books but I have never even had the faintest inclination to read them. Now let me tell ya something else.. I have never read a Harry Potter book either. Nope not one. But I have watched everymovie that has come out.. I know for shame for shame for shame.. however I would go watcha Twilight movied not for the story but admittedly for the hot guys lol
